The Weekender: A Massive Weekend for Combat Sports

Saudi Arabian sporting events are always nice. Wake up, have some coffee, and tune into some of the biggest combat sports events of the year. This week, it's a boxing card that features seven (!) title fights, including a rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. As if that wasn't good enough, the UFC will put on one of the best Fight Nights of the year, beginning directly after the boxing fights. It's gonna be a long day on the couch Saturday, but there's not a single complaint from over here.
Here’s what we've got today:

NBA Friday Quick Hitters
🔹 Sharp Money Alert: The Knicks opened as 8-point dogs to the Cavaliers in a potential playoff preview, and now stand at +6.5. New York will be on the second leg of a back-to-back and will likely be without OG Anunoby and Josh Hart. We’ll fade the public and take the healthy home favorites here.

🔹 Odds Boost to Grab: Sleeper Picks is currently offering a 100% deposit match up to $1,500, compared to a 50% deposit match from Underdog. If you need a new book, Sleeper is worth a gander.
🔹 Trap Game Warning: Golden State is taking an insane 75% of the bets as a one-point favorite against the Kings. The Kings are at home and have won three of their last four. Fade the public once more.

Boxing Quick Hitters
🔹 Underdog of the Night: Bivol fought an insanely competitive fight against Beterbiev the first time, with some thinking he even deserved to win on the cards. He’s six years younger than Beterbiev and has superior cardio. Back Bivol at +106.

🔹 Lock of the Night: Hamzah Sheeraz is a sizable favorite at -290. He’s not losing this fight. He’s got advantages in height and reach, as well being significantly younger than his opponent, Carlos Adames. Sheeraz has the pop and the footwork to keep his distance and find a late finish.

🔹 Trap Fight Warning: Agit Kabayel is a slight favorite against Zhilei Zhang, but it’s best to stay away from this one. Zhang, a proven veteran, has the reach advantage and the chin needed to withstand Kabayel’s best shot. The veteran will likely survive an early storm and win a decision behind his jab, but this is far from a sure thing.

UFC Picks and Fades
The casuals won’t get excited for a card like this one, but UFC Seattle will be a good one. Nearly every fight is a banger, and there are several great betting opportunities to take advantage of.
Lock of the Night: Jean Silva (-550)
This is obviously cheating a little bit given the odds, but Silva should be a leg in every parlay thrown on this card. He’s got way more power than his opponent, who hasn’t fought in the UFC in over a year. Screw the odds. Just throw Silva in every bet for a free pair.
Fade of the Night: Brendan Allen vs. Anthony Hernandez

This whole fight is just a fade. Allen is insanely inconsistent, but he is a more well-rounded technical fighter than Hernandez is. Both guys have legitimate shots at winning, but I can’t in good faith recommend betting on Brendan Allen. Best to let this one pass.
Upset of the Night: Julius Walker vs. Alonzo Menifield
Let’s go down the upset checklist for this fight:
Overrated veteran is the favorite: Check
Explosive finisher with no name value as his opponent: Check
The veteran is more than 10 years older than the prospect: Check
The UFC has a vested interest in the prospect winning and earning a ranking: Check
Overrated veteran has absolutely terrible fight IQ: Check
Walker is currently a +184 underdog. It’s extremely likely he finds his seventh straight win by finish against Menifield, an old dog who hasn’t learned a new trick throughout his UFC career.
Performance of the Night: Jean Matsumoto vs. Rob Font
I don’t even care who wins this one. Matsumoto is one of the best prospects in the division against a known prospect killer in Font. This should be fireworks from the opening bell, featuring excellent Muay Thai and boxing from their respective corners. Don’t be shocked if Matsumoto finds a late knockout in a Fight of the Night war.

Snoozer of the Night: Melquizael Costa vs. Andre Fili
In a night of fun ones, this is stands out as good opportunity for a bathroom break. Costa loves his jiu-jitsu, and his striking is based off of kicking from a distance. Exciting!!

Fili isn’t a boring fighter himself, but he really needs a willing dance partner. Costa does not fit the bill. This fight will very likely go the distance in either a cardio kickboxing or lay-and-pray fashion.
Parlay Bet: 4-Leg Spread on FanDuel
Leg 1: Jean Silva – (-550)
Leg 2: Julius Walker – (+184)
Leg 3: Jean Matsumoto – (-168)
Leg 4: Costa vs. Fili GTD – (-174)
